What is Carboxytherapy?

Carboxytherapy is a highly effective procedure used in the treatment of cellulite, scars, stretch marks, dark circles and hair loss. People undergoing the treatment will find an improvement in circulation, skin elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles. It is also effective for collagen repair and the destruction of fatty deposits without the invasiveness of liposuction. By increasing blood flow to the eyelid, it is also effective at reducing under-eye dark circles.

What happens during your consultation?

Our aesthetics nurse, Ros Bown, will carefully listen to your concerns and discuss with you the best course of treatment to attain your desired goals. Each stage of the process will be fully explained to you during this initial consultation and throughout your treatment plan.

During the treatment

The procedure is tailored depending on the part of the body being treated. Filtered low pressure carbon dioxide gas is injected at precise points beneath the skin.

After the treatment

Most clients will see some improvement after the initial treatment although it can take at least one month for the body to respond to this treatment. More pronounced results will be seen after at least 6 treatments when the skin will show clear signs of rejuvenation.

For scars and stretch marks, it is normal for these to look more pronounced after treatment. Recent stretch marks respond better and may improve after only one treatment, although a course of treatments every 2 weeks work best. Older stretch marks usually need more sessions at 4 weekly intervals.

For the treatment of fat and cellulite, a noticeable lifting effect is often observed. There is evidence to show that carbon dioxide can destroy fat cells and the increase in blood flow and collagen stimulation leads to firmer skin, along with a reduction of fat and cellulite. Several initial treatments are advisable followed by 6 monthly maintenance sessions.

After treatment, it is advisable to avoid bathing or swimming for the first few hours.
