What is Hand Volumisation?

As we age, the most noticeable early evidence of skin deterioration can be seen on the backs of our hands. Exposure to the sun’s damaging UV rays lead to blemishes and skin pigmentation, commonly known as ‘age spots’ and, as we age, the subcutaneous layers of fat in our hands become thinner. We lose approximately 7% of our skin thickness per decade, leading to veins, bones and tendons becoming more prominent on our hands.

Loss of volume on our hands can be rectified with the use of dermal fillers. These will plump and replenish lost volume on the back of the hands providing a youthful appearance almost instantly.

What happens during your consultation?

Our aesthetics nurse, Ros Bown, will carefully listen to your concerns and discuss with you the best course of treatment to attain your desired goals. Each stage of the process will be fully explained to you during this initial consultation and throughout your treatment plan.

During the treatment

The dermal filler is gently injected into specific areas of your hand at precise points and depths to raise the skin so that tendons, bones and veins lose their prominence.

After the treatment

Swelling, redness or bruising may occur for up to 48 hours after the treatment. It is recommended that you do not use makeup for 12 hours after treatment. You should also avoid sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and extreme temperatures for 24 hours after treatment.
